Why this shape

What defines it

Uninterrupted swim corridor

The centre of the pool is one continuous lane — no benches or steps in the swimming path. Real laps, not half-laps.

Wide shallow bench

A wide sun-shelf along one side — perfect for kids, sitting adults, floating loungers or as a safety break for non-swimmers.

Slim (SL) variants

The 8.2 SL, 7.15 SL and 5.8 SL are 3.0m (or 2.7m) wide instead of 4.2m — built for inner-city sites and side-of-house spots.

Infinity-edge ready

Disappearing-edge water is possible on the X-Trainer 10.2 and 11.8 with the right site (slope or elevation needed).

FAQs

X-Trainer — common questions

What is an X-Trainer designed for?

The X-Trainer combines a clear lap-swim corridor with a family relaxation zone — an in-floor bench at one end for lounging and kids, then an unobstructed swim lane. It's Compass's answer to the "I want to swim laps but the family also wants a normal pool" question.

How long is the swim corridor on each size?

On the 8.2m X-Trainer you get around 6.5m of clear swim corridor. On the 10.2m, closer to 8m. The 11.8m gives you a full 10m lap length, which is plenty for a genuine fitness-swim session at home.

What's the difference between X-Trainer and X-Trainer SL?

The SL (Slimline) variants are narrower — around 3.4m wide vs the standard 3.75m. Same length, same swim corridor length, just a slimmer footprint for narrower blocks. Available on 8.2SL, 7.15SL and 5.8SL.

Is our SPASA Gold-award pool an X-Trainer?

Yes — our SPASA Gold-award build at Johns River is an X-Trainer 9.4 with Maxi Rib construction and an infinity edge on the low side of a naturally sloping block, finished in Sapphire Bi-Luminite. It's one of our most-photographed installs.

Can I have Vantage self-cleaning on an X-Trainer?

Yes — Vantage is available across the full X-Trainer range and works particularly well because the long lap corridor gives the water a clean return path.

Which size X-Trainer suits a typical Port Macquarie backyard?

The 8.2 and 9.4 are our most-installed X-Trainers locally. The 8.2 fits comfortably in a standard suburban block with room for surrounds; the 9.4 suits larger blocks where the client wants a proper lap experience. On tight blocks we'll often recommend an 8.2SL slimline.
