FAQs

Spas and Waders — common questions

What's the difference between a spa and a wader?

A spa is a heated, jetted seat-configured shell for warm-water use, typically 35–38°C. A wader is an unheated shallow-water shell (300–500mm deep) for kids to splash in, adults to lounge in, and general shallow-water relaxation. Both can be standalone or integrated with a main pool.

What spa options does Compass offer?

The X-Trainer Spa and X-Trainer XL Spa — freestanding jetted spas designed for standalone install or to complement an existing Compass pool. Same ceramic-core construction as a Compass pool shell.

What is the Wader 3.1?

A 3.1m shallow shell — around 300mm deep — for kids to splash in, adults to lounge in on a hot day, or as a beach-entry-style feature next to a main pool. Colour-matched to any Compass Bi-Luminite finish.

Can a spa be added to an existing Compass pool?

Yes — either standalone alongside the existing pool with its own plumbing, or, in some cases, plumbed to share the main pool's circulation with a heater bypass. Talk to us about your existing installation and we'll work out the best approach.

How much does the spa cost to run?

Depends on how often you use it and how well it's insulated. A well-insulated Compass spa with a cover, heated to 38°C and used 3–4 times a week, typically runs $30–60 per month in electricity. Less if you use it less; more in mid-winter without a cover.

Is the wader safe for young children?

The shallow depth (300–500mm) is much safer than a full pool depth for very young kids, but any body of water requires adult supervision at all times — Australian pool fencing law still applies to waders in most jurisdictions. We'll advise on compliance requirements for your site.
