FAQs

Choosing your pool colour — common questions

How do I choose between Bi-Luminite and Vivid?

Bi-Luminite is the premium 3D-effect finish — a layered surface with reflective chips that make the water sparkle and shift through the day. Vivid is a solid, saturated single-tone finish for owners who want a bolder, more consistent look. Bi-Luminite pools carry a lifetime structural warranty; Vivid pools carry a 25-year structural warranty and 7-year cosmetic cover. Both are quality finishes — the choice is aesthetic.

Will the pool water actually look like the colour chip?

Yes, but with more depth and sparkle than a flat chip can show. The finish behaves differently in morning, midday and late-afternoon light. The best way to choose is to see a filled, running pool in the colour you're considering — our display Vogue 7.15 in Port Macquarie is in Sapphire, and we can also arrange a visit to one of our recent installs in your shortlisted colour.

Do darker colours make the water warmer?

Slightly — darker colours absorb a small amount of extra solar heat compared to lighter finishes, but the effect is modest. If pool temperature is a priority, a solar blanket or heat pump will make a much bigger difference than the shell colour.

Will the colour fade over time?

The Bi-Luminite finish is factory-applied and sealed under a chemical-resistant clear coat — it doesn't fade, chalk or discolour the way vinyl-lined or painted pools do. Compass backs it with a 10-year cosmetic warranty covering fading, chalking, blistering and discolouration under normal pool chemistry.

Can I see all 14 colours in person?

Yes — we keep the full Compass sample set on hand, both Bi-Luminite (Sapphire, Atlantic, Pacific, Pearl, Quartz, Pink Quartz, Vercoe, Viridian, Evolution) and Vivid (Royal Blue, Arctic Marine, Ice Blue, Grey Marble, Ivory Shimmer). Chip samples are best viewed alongside our filled Vogue display pool for a proper sense of scale — give Mark a call to book a time.

Which colours are most popular locally?

Sapphire and Pacific are the two most-picked in our region — both deep blues that read strong against the Port Macquarie sun. Pearl and Quartz suit lighter, coastal-look installs; Vercoe and Viridian go well with heavily-planted or natural-stone surrounds. There's no wrong answer — it's about the look you're after.
